Each booklet in the Growing Faith Project
provides a complete treatment of Catholic teachings on its topic. The material is presented in plain English. Es disponible en español también. It is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and has an Imprimatur.
This booklet summarizes articles 1749 thru 1802 of The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the main points include:
► There are concrete acts that it is always wrong to choose, because their choice entails a disorder of the will, i.e., a moral evil. One may not do evil so that good may result from it.
► Conscience is a judgment of reason by which the human person recognizes the moral quality of a concrete act.
A well-formed conscience is upright and truthful. It formulates its judgments according to reason, in conformity with the true good willed by the wisdom of the Creator.
► Everyone must avail him or herself of the means to form his or her conscience.
► The Word of God is a light for our path. We must assimilate it in faith and prayer and put it into practice. This is how moral conscience is formed.(1802)
